It's four year-old news, but long-time Radiohead collaborator and "Scott Pilgrim" composer Nigel Godrich created what I consider to be one of the better DVD concert series' of all-time. The project began back in 2006 when Godrich began shooting the series in London's Maida Vale Studios. Since then, some incredibly top-notch indie musicians have performed and been recorded, including The White Stripes, Beck, Fleet Foxes, and Radiohead.
I bring this up because I was watching one of the shows free on youtube today and I thought to myself, this is the best recording of the best band I've ever heard, and I must share it with those who would listen. While the vast majority of the DVDs are available on Amazon for 11 Pounds, Radiohead paid the producers in order to make their recording free to the public. As a result, I would exhort one and all to head over to youtube and check it out. If you have any appreciation for the art of music you'll find this to be at the least miraculous, at the most life changing. I've been watching the show periodically for over a year now, always when I need to remind myself of some of the glories the human race is capable of achieving.

To be fair, although I consider this to be one of the best live recordings of all-time, it bears closer resemblance to a studio recording than to a run-of-the-mill live show. Each of the performances are filmed inside the studio without either host nor audience. It's almost like a variant on existing studio recordings by the band. If you're a fan of Radiohead, this is truly like listening to God's iPod.
